Bonne fête – Gala dinner
An extraordinary Festival evening in honour of Cecilia Bartoli: on 8 August, an exclusive gala dinner held as part of the Salzburg Festival invites guests to celebrate the 60th birthday of the artistic director of the Whitsun Festival together with her.
Following the gala performance of Gioachino Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims, a special gathering of artists, longstanding companions and friends of Cecilia Bartoli will come together for a unique evening of music, encounters and culinary highlights.
Among the guests will be the cast of Il viaggio a Reims as well as renowned artistic personalities including Pretty Yende, Rolando Villazón and Plácido Domingo, who will join Cecilia Bartoli in celebrating this very special Festival occasion.

Chef of the Year 2026
For this exceptional evening, Vitus Winkler, awarded “Chef of the Year 2026” by Gault Millau, will create an exclusive gala menu at the Alte Residenz. His cuisine combines Austrian haute cuisine with the diversity of the region’s natural landscape: wild herbs and local ingredients gathered from the forests and meadows of Salzburg are at the heart of his refined creations.
