JEDERMANN has devoted his life to wealth and pleasure. Yet when Death summons him before his Creator, he is forced to realise that everything on which he has relied becomes meaningless: his possessions are left behind, his friends turn their backs on him – and no one is willing to accompany him on his final journey.
Only the Works, portrayed by Meike Droste, remain with him. Initially weakened by a life in which Everyman had paid them little heed, they gain new strength through his repentance and conversion, and ultimately accompany him on his final journey.
