Giò Forma

The art, design and architectural studio Giò Forma was founded in 1998 in Milan by Cristiana Picco, Florian Boje and Claudio Santucci. This award-winning studio works on international art exhibitions, music and fashion events, and in the fields of architecture and stage design.

Giò Forma is especially renowned for the Tree of Life installation at the Expo 2015 in Milan, and for several projects in Saudi Arabia, including the Maraya Concert Hall and the Design Space in AlUla, and the first Islamic Arts Biennale in Jeddah. The Maraya Concert Hall was named the largest mirror-clad building in the world in the Guinness World Records in 2019.

At La Scala, Milan, the studio’s projects have included set designs for Davide Livermore’s productions of Attila, Tosca and Macbeth, and the gala concert A riveder le stelle. Other stage design work has taken Giò Forma to the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, the Teatro Regio in Turin, the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro. Giò Forma has also worked with Davide Livermore at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo, the Royal Opera House in Muscat, the Sydney Opera House and the Opéra de Monte-Carlo.

Giò Forma has created fashion shows for brands such as Marni and Giorgio Armani, and designed shows for singers such as Vasco Rossi, Jovanotti, Laura Pausini, Cesare Cremonini, Tiziano Ferro and Marco Mengoni. The studio also oversaw the artistic direction for the performances by the Spanish singer Barei and the Italian group Måneskin at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Giò Forma has received numerous awards, including for designs for Cartier’s exhibition The Legendary Thrill in Milan, and for the LUMEN Museum of Mountain Photography in Bruneck. The studio has received awards including the American Institute of Architects Merit Award, and the 2021 Luxury Lifestyle Award.
