“The city as a stage” – Hugo von Hofmannsthal’s vision becomes reality every year at the heart of heart of Europe. The founding mission of this work of peace is unique and timeless, like the atmosphere enveloping the entire city summer after summer. The boundaries between everyday and performance, city and stage, tourist and supernumerary blur. Regardless of background, language and culture, the Festival visitors and performers are united in their interest and love for the arts, proving every year how valid and important this peace project is.

Support from our private donors is a significant source of sustainable financing for the Salzburg Festival. Find out about the tax deductibility of your donation to the Salzburg Festival in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and the US.

Patrons

We thank our patrons, whose contributions help us in many different yet crucial ways.

John Studzinski

Guided by a deep commitment to the performing arts and social responsibility, John Studzinski supports the Salzburg Festival, and particularly the Ouverture Spirituelle. His commitment is driven by his love for classical music and a desire to strengthen cultural initiatives that bring people together and open up new perspectives.

Dr. Hans-Peter Wild
Dr. Hans-Peter Wild

Dr. Hans-Peter Wild is among those whose love of the arts and the beauty of our city of Salzburg have led them to become great supporters and patrons of the Salzburg Festival. The Festival owes its new Festival Centre, conceived as a place of encounter for all music lovers and Festival enthusiasts, to this visionary.

We thank all those, who prefer to remain anonymous.

Remaining unforgotten:

Gerhard Andlinger †

Gerry Andlinger was also a man of the hour. He created the so called SalzburgKulisse under the rooftop of the Haus für Mozart, the most beautiful venue for an exclusive gathering after a festival performance. Many artistic projects were realized thanks to his support.

Prof. Dr. Dr. Herbert Batliner †

Herbert Batliner was one of those personalities who accompanied the festival for more than a decade. We owe him, for example, the renovation of the magnificent Faistauer Foyer and the open-air organ in the Toscanini Hof. With his financial support, the Ouverture spiritual became a vital part of the beginning of the Festival summer.

Donald Kahn †

One of the first patrons was Donald Kahn. One can say without exaggeration that the decision to build the Haus für Mozart could not have been made without him. His 5 million Euro donation was a real “injection of courage” for those involved in the project.
