Final Performance Opera Camp — Macbeth

William Shakespeare’s dark drama Macbeth was the literary source for Giuseppe Verdi’s opera of the same name. After a victorious battle, the two generals Macbeth and Banco encounter a band of prophesying witches. They predict Macbeth will become King of Scotland, and tell Banco his sons will become kings. These mysterious prophecies ignite Macbeth’s lust for power and drive him to commit murder, aided and abetted by his wife Lady Macbeth. Once crowned King and Queen of Scotland, the couple live in constant fear of losing power and being exposed for their bloody crimes. Spine-chilling encounters, hellish concoctions and dangerous schemes offer the young participants of the opera camp an exciting range of opportunities to act and make music in their own stage adaptation.
