In the drama camp, young theatre enthusiasts take to a rehearsal stage every day for ten days and immerse themselves in the text and themes of a work programmed as one of the Salzburg Festival’s drama productions. Through theatrical improvisation, stage acting and creative writing activities, the young participants develop their own texts and scenes, culminating in a final stage performance of their production.

There is a limited number of places. The final selection will be made during a two-day workshop in April or May. Registration is only possible online via our registration form.

The rehearsals of the drama camp will take place on a rehearsal stage in Salzburg.
The exact address will be published in due time.

Registration for the selection workshop is open until TUES 1 April 2025, 1 pm at:
www.salzburgfestival.at/schauspielcamp

The participation fees cover the workshops, visits to rehearsals and meals during the daily rehearsal periods. Bursaries are available for participants from low-income families.

Drama camp — Jedermann

About the play Jedermann by
Hugo von Hofmannsthal

For young people aged 14 to 19
Camp language: German

Jedermann is obsessed with living the high life. His only concerns are amassing money, partying hard and having a blast. He doesn’t have a social conscience and couldn’t care less about doing the right thing. Only when Death suddenly announces that his end is near does he begin to question his way of life. As his final hours approach, Jedermann feels a burning desire to understand the true value and purpose of life, which makes him probe the meanings of death, faith and, ultimately, God. The young participants will explore the ‘Play of the Rich Man’s Death’ by drawing on experiences from their own lives. Over the course of the drama camp, they will be encouraged to express and act out their personal takes on the characters, scenes and themes of the work.
