The pianist Yulianna Avdeeva inspires audiences worldwide through her virtuosic playing style and fiery temperament. She came to international attention after winning the Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 2010; ever since, she has been a regular guest at international concert halls.

Highlights of the 2024/25 season have included Bernstein’s The Age of Anxiety with the Minnesota Orchestra under Robert Treviño, Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana, works by Chopin with the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire and performances with the Basel Chamber Orchestra, the Musikkollegium Winterthur, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, the Wrocław Baroque Orchestra and the NHK Symphony Orchestra. Recitals have taken her to the Konzerthaus Dortmund, the Brucknerhaus Linz, the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin, the Leipzig Gewandhaus and Carnegie Hall.

She has performed with major orchestras such as the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic, the Orchestra dell’ Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, and with conductors including Manfred Honeck, Mark Elder, Gustavo Dudamel, Marin Alsop, Vladimir Jurowski, Joana Mallwitz, Santtu-Matias Rouvali, Tugan Sokhiev and Juraj Valčuha.

As a chamber musician her appearances include performances with Julia Fischer and Gidon Kremer at renowned concert halls such as the Wigmore Hall, the Zurich Tonhalle and the Baden-Baden Festspielhaus.

Along with regular performances at the Chopin Festival in Warsaw and at the Festival International de Piano de La Roque d’Anthéron, she has appeared at the Salzburg Festival, the Ruhr Piano Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival, the Musikfest Bremen, the Jerusalem Chamber Music Festival and the International Shostakovich Days in Gohrisch.

Her artistic activity is documented on numerous recordings, including three solo albums, piano concertos by Chopin with the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, chamber music with Gidon Kremer and a solo CD in the special edition Great Chopin Pianists, released by Deutsche Grammophon.

Yulianna Avdeeva began her training at Moscow’s Gnessin School of Music, went on to further studies with Vladimir Tropp and Konstantin Scherbakov and attended the International Piano Academy Lake Como.

Her online streaming project #AvdeevaBachProject attracts international attention.
