Thomas Hoppe is considered one of the most outstanding collaborative pianists of his generation and has performed with artists such as Itzhak Perlman, Antje Weithaas, Tabea Zimmermann, Alban Gerhardt, Jens Peter Mainz and Frans Helmerson. He went to the USA as a student of Lee Luvisi and was later educated at the Juilliard School, where he was long-time studio pianist for Dorothy DeLay and Itzhak Perlman.
As a member of the ATOS Trio, Thomas Hoope performs worldwide and has won many prizes and awards. The ATOS Trio’s complete live recordings of Beethoven’s piano trios will be released by Wigmore Hall in autumn 2019. He also tours regularly with the ensemble 4.1 Piano-Windtet.
Thomas Hoppe has worked for many international competitions as a piano partner for instrumentalists and singers, including the Concours Reine Elisabeth in Brussels, the International Joseph Joachim Violin Competition in Hanover, the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, the Emanuel Feuermann Cello Competition in Berlin and the ARD Music Competition.
He regularly leads masterclasses in piano accompaniment and chamber music in Europe, Australia, China, South America and the USA. In April 2018 he accepted an invitation to become professor of piano chamber music at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. Thomas Hoppe lives in Berlin.
