Tenor Theodore Browne was born in Manchester and grew up inGermany as the son of English and South African parents. His extensive repertoire includes works by Rossini and Mozart, Bach, Britten, and Donizetti.In the 2025/26 season, he will perform as Conte di Libenskof in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims at the Landestheater Detmold, as well as Don Ramiro in Rossini’s La Cenerentola and Ernesto in Donizetti’s DonPasquale at the Darmstadt State Theatre.
The tenor has successfully appeared as a guest at festivals andtheaters (e.g., Karlsruhe State Theatre, Latvian National Opera and Ballet, Tyrolean State Theatre, Glyndebourne Opera Festival, Salzburg Landestheater) in roles such as Don Ramiro, Count Almaviva, Lindoro, and Nemorino. In 2021, he was invited to the Rossini Opera Festival Pesaro to join the Accademia Rossiniana Alberto Zedda, where he performed the role of Conte di Libenskoff in Il viaggio a Reims.
He is also in demand internationally in the concert field. Recent performances have taken him to the Rheingau Music Festival, Schloss Nymphenburg & the Hercules Hall in Munich, the Cologne Philharmonie, with the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, at the
SWR Festivals in Schwetzingen, as well as at the Sopot Summer Festival (Poland) and the Znojmo Music Festival (Czech Republic).
Additionally, he is a winner and laureate of several competitions, including the International Music Competition of the Cologne University of Music and Dance in 2014, the Federal Singing Competition in 2016, the International Ebe Stignani Competition in Imola in 2018, the International Singing Competition Meistersinger of Nuremberg in 2018, and the Queen Sonia International Music Competition in 2019.
During his studies, he was a student in the class of Prof. Thomas Heyer at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt. Throughout his musical career, he has gained valuable experience through various engagements, competitions, and masterclasses, working with artists such as Helmut Deutsch, Neil Shicoff, Giulio Zappa, Robert Gambill, and Raina Kabaivanska. He is also vocally coached by Camilla Ueberschaer.
