Szilvia Vörös

Hungarian mezzo-soprano Szilvia Vörös joined the ensemble of the Vienna State Opera in 2018. She studied with Éva Marton at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest and has won a number of vocal competitions. She made her international debut in 2014 at the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest as the Third Maid in Elektra. She subsequently developed a broad repertoire at the Hungarian State Opera, including roles such as Fenena (Nabucco), Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Bersi (Andrea Chénier), Siébel (Faust), Romeo (I Capuleti e i Montecchi), Alisa (Lucia di Lammermoor), Waltraute (Die Walküre) and, most recently, Isabella (L’italiana in Algeri), as well as appearing in Peter Eötvös’ chamber opera Out at S.E.A. Her other projects include appearances in Milan and Paris.

As a member of the Young Singers Project she appeared as Albine in Thaïs at the 2016 Salzburg Festival. Her concert repertoire includes works by Bach, Buxtehude, Mozart, Rossini, Beethoven, Bruckner, Pärt and Eötvös. Roles at the Vienna State Opera include Fenena, Anna (Les Troyens), Julie (Dantons Tod) and Hippolyta (A Midsummer Night’s Dream).
