Sinfonía por el Perú Youth Orchestra

Current as of August 2022

The Sinfonía por el Perú Youth Orchestra consists of more than 150 young musicians trained at the 17 Sinfonía por el Perú music centres spread throughout the country. Together they interpret a varied and artistically ambitious repertoire, ranging from traditional Peruvian and Latin American music to classical orchestral works.

In Peru, the orchestra regularly participates in important national events and opera seasons. The Youth Orchestra has appeared with Juan Diego Flórez in numerous performances, such as the benefit concert held in 2017 at the National Stadium of Lima in support of the victims of the Niño Costero; the concert celebrating the first seven years of Sinfonía por el Perú in 2018 at the Gran Teatro Nacional; the concert Serenata al Perú in the Plaza Mayor de Lima in 2019; and, in June 2022, the first concert with public attendance after the coronavirus pandemic. The orchestra’s first Christmas album, released in 2018, sold more than 12,000 copies and won Triple Gold.

Internationally, the youth orchestra has toured to both Latin America and Europe: in 2017 they traveled to Colombia to be part of the Orquesta Juvenil de América Latina; in November of the same year, they travelled to Spain to perform for the first time at the Teatro Real in Madrid with Juan Diego Flórez; and in 2019, they appeared at the prestigious Lucerne Festival in Switzerland. In addition, they travelled to Salzburg to participate in masterclasses with the musicians of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. In Summer 2022 the orchestra performs with Juan Diego Flórez at the Salzburg Festival, the Gstaad Menuhin Festival and the Lucerne Festival.

The Hilti Foundation (Schaan, Liechtenstein) is proud to present the Sinfonía por el Perú Youth Orchestra as its main partner.
