Philipp Schöllhorn

The bass Philipp Schöllhorn received his first musical training in the Vienna Boys Choir and went on to study singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. In 2018 he made his Salzburg Festival debut in Henze’s The Bassarids.
Concert and song repertory are particular focuses of his artistic career. In 2020 he won first prize in the Musica Juventutis competition and in 2021 he won first prize in Elīna Garanča’s singing competition ZukunftsStimmen. He went on to appear in the concerts ‘Klassik unter Sternen’ in Göttweig Abbey and ‘Klassik in den Alpen’ in Kitzbühel, alongside Garanča.
Since 2021 he has been a member of the opera studio of the Salzburg Landestheater, where he has appeared in roles including Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Zuniga (Carmen), Nardo (La finta giardiniera) and Frank (Die Fledermaus). Guest engagements have included Basilio and Fiorello (Il barbiere di Siviglia) at the Theater an der Wien.
On the concert platform Philipp Schöllhorn’s repertory has included the title role in Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Haydn’s The Creation and The Seasons, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Mozart and Dvořák’s Requiems and several Mozart masses.
He also performed in the benefit gala ‘Austria for Life’ at Schönbrunn and in the 2022 Sommernacht der Marchfelder at Schloss Hof.
