Paweł Trojak

Polish baritone Paweł Trojak was born in 1994 and began his vocal studies at the Tarnów Music School. Since 2014 he has been studying with Jadwiga Rappé at the Fryderyk Chopin Music University in Warsaw and is currently in the second year of his master’s degree. He is also a member of the Opera Academy of the Polish National Opera at the Teatr Wielki, where he has worked with Eytan Pessen, Matthias Rexroth, Izabela Kłosińska, Neil Shicoff, Helmut Deutsch and Olga Pasichnyk. He has won prizes at a number of international competitions, including the first prize and three special prizes in the 2019 International Antonina Campi Vocal Competition, a special prize in the 2019 International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition, the first prize and six special prizes in the 2018 Bell’Arte Competition, the first prize and a special prize in the 2017 Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský Competition, the sec­ond prize and five special prizes in the Ada Sari Competition, the first prize in the 2016 Iuventus Canti Competition and the first prize in the 2016 Rudolf Petrák Competition. In 2016, 2017 and 2018 he received schol­arships from the Polish Ministry of Culture. He also has scholarships from the Hans and Eugenia Jütting Foundation and the Jerzy Semkow Foundation.

Paweł Trojak made his Polish National Opera debut in April 2017 as Jonek in Jan Stefani’s The Supposed Miracle, or Kracov­ians and Highlanders and in January 2018 he took over the leading roles of Bardos and Wawrzyniec in this same production. In June 2018 he returned to the Polish Nation­al Opera to sing Le Dancaïre (Carmen).

In July 2017 he took part in a concert performance of Korngold’s Das Wunder der Heliane under Fabrice Bollon at the Frei­burg Theatre. The performance was also re­corded and released on CD. In the summer of 2018 Paweł Trojak was a par­ticipant in the Young Singers Project of the Salzburg Festival, where he made his debut as the Second Nazarene in Salome. In June 2019 he sang Papageno (Die Zauberflöte) at the Warsaw Chamber Opera.

Among the orchestras with which Paweł Trojak has worked are the SWR Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Polish Na­tion­al Opera, the National Symphony Orchestra of Polish Radio, the Sinfonia Varsovia, the Silesian Philharmonic and the Beethoven Academy Orchestra.
