The young Austrian mezzo-soprano Patricia Nolz completed her training at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Florian Boesch and Claudia Visca. In 2020 she made a highly acclaimed debut at the Theater an der Wien as Cherubino in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro. Following two years at the opera studio of the Vienna State Opera, where she sang Cherubino and Zerlina (Don Giovanni), she has been an ensemble member of the Vienna State Opera since the 2022/23 season. Her roles there have included La Musica and La Speranza in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Wellgunde in Wagner’s Das Rheingold and Götterdämmerung, Page (Salome), Annio (La clemenza di Tito), Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus) and Siébel (Faust).

In 2024 she made her debuts at the Komische Oper Berlin and the Edinburgh Festival as Cherubino and performed for the first time at the Salzburg Festival with the Mozarteum Orchestra under Ivor Bolton. Highlights of 2024/25 included Stéphano (Roméo et Juliette) and Silla (Palestrina) under Christian Thielemann at the Vienna State Opera, Rosina at the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen, Handel’s Messiah with the Arnold Schoenberg Choir and Mozart’s Mass in C minor with Concentus Musicus Wien under Stefan Gottfried at the Vienna Musikverein, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio under Patrick Hahn at the Isarphilharmonie and song recitals with Malcolm Martineau at the Vienna Konzerthaus and the Hindsgavl Festival. In summer 2025 she performs at the Salzburg Festival, the Schwarzenberg Schubertiade and the Grafenegg Festival.

As a concert soloist her appearances have included Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under Karina Canellakis and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra under Andris Nelsons, Mendelssohn’s Paulus with the Vorarlberg Symphony Orchestra, and Purcell’s The Fairy Queen, Bach’s St John Passion and Schubert’s Mass in A flat major with Concentus Musicus Wien at the Vienna Musikverein. In 2023/24 she was offered a special platform at the Vienna Konzerthaus as a ‘Great Talent’.

Patricia Nolz is a winner of the Casinos Austria Rising Star Award 2019 and a prize-winner of competitions such as the ÖJAB Music Competition and the Osaka Music Competition in Japan. She received the Austrian Music Theatre Award for her performance as Zerlina at the Vienna State Opera under Philippe Jordan.
