Mikhail Tatarnikov

Mikhail Tatarnikov is much in demand as a conductor at the world’s leading opera houses, including La Scala, Milan, the Bavarian State Opera, La Monnaie in Brussels, the Opéra National de Bordeaux, the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, the Theater an der Wien, the Latvian National Opera, the Bergen National Opera, the Komische Oper Berlin and the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg. He frequently works with such renowned soloists as Anna Netrebko, Roberto Alagna, Vilde Frang, Gautier Capuçon, Renaud Capuçon, Nikolai Lugansky, Sergey Khachatryan, Boris Giltburg, Peter Donohoe, Kristīne Opolais and Vadim Repin.

His recent projects include the Russian premiere of Billy Budd at the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St Petersburg, Dmitri Tcherniakov’s new production of The Snow Maiden at the Paris Opéra, Jürgen Flimm’s new production of Manon Lescaut at the Berlin State Opera, Dmitry Bertman’s new production of The Demon at the Liceu in Barcelona, concert performances of Samson et Dalila with Roberto Alagna at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, a new production of Boris Godunov at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo and revivals of Prince Igor at the Hamburg State Opera and The Makropulos Affair at San Francisco Opera, as well as ballets and operas at the Mikhailovsky Theatre. He also made his debut with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and conducted a tour with Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov in Japan, China, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.

On the concert platform, Mikhail Tatarnikov has conducted the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, the Danish National Symphony, the Oslo Philharmonic, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Seoul Philharmonic, the Seattle Symphony, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, the Novosibirsk Philharmonic, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia and the Russian National Orchestra.

Mikhail Tatarnikov studied at the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory. After graduating in 2003, he continued his studies with Alexander Polishchuk.
