The mezzo-soprano Marina Viotti is a sought-after artist who makes regular appearances at renowned international opera houses. Her early engagements took her to the Opéra de Lausanne, the Lucerne Theatre and to participate in the young ensemble of the Grand Théâtre de Genève. An especial highlight of her career was her performance at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games in Summer 2024, which was awarded a Grammy in February 2025.

In 2024/25 she returned to the Paris Opéra as Siébel (Faust), sang Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus) in Barrie Kosky’s production at the Dutch National Opera, appeared in a staged production of Mozart’s Requiem at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and as Nicklausse (Les Contes d’Hoffmann) at the Zurich Opera House and returned to the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées as Charlotte in a new production of Werther and as Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier. Concerts have taken her to Marseille, Paris, the Festival Ré Majeur and to make her debut at the Salzburg Festival.

In 2023/24 she made her debut at the Zurich Opera House in the title role of Carmen and performed for the first time in the USA with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra under Nathalie Stutzmann. Other highlights have included Maddalena (Rigoletto) at the Bavarian State Opera, Stéphano (Roméo et Juliette) at La Scala, Milan, Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia) in Barcelona and the title roles of Alceste at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome and of La Périchole and La Cenerentola in Paris.

As a concert singer her appearances include performances with the Orquestra Gulbenkian in Lisbon, at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and at the Grafenegg Festival. She has recorded Porque existe otro querer with the guitarist Gabriel Bianco and A Tribute to Pauline Viardot with Les Talens Lyriques under Christophe Rousset for CD.

Marina Viotti initially studied flute, experimented with jazz, gospel and heavy metal, and completed a Master’s degree in philosophy and literature, before studying singing with Heidi Brunner in Vienna and Brigitte Balleys in Lausanne, and completing her bel canto training with Raúl Giménez.

She is a prize-winner in several competitions, including the Concours de Genève, the Concours International de Chant de Mâcon, the International Opera Awards in London and the Victoires de la Musique, as ‘Artiste lyrique de l’année 2023’.
