The soprano Iveta Simonyan was born in Novosibirsk and is a graduate of the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory, where she studied with Olga Kondina. She has participated in masterclasses given by leading artists such as Teodor Currentzis, Jennifer Larmore, Irini Tsirakidis, Dmitry Vdovin and Tamara Novichenko. Her numerous competition successes include a diploma from the New Opera World International Opera Competition in Moscow (2020), the Chairman of the Jury’s special prize at the Opera Bella Festival Competition in Moscow (2022), second prize at the Sobinov Music Festival Vocal Competition in Saratov (2022) and a prize at the All-Russian Review of Vocalists competition, featuring graduates of music conservatories in St Petersburg (2024).
Iveta Simonyan made her professional debut in 2023 as the Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte) at the St Petersburg Music Hall Theatre. From 2023 to 2025 she was a soloist of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre St Petersburg in Vladivostok, where she sang roles including Queen of the Night, Gilda (Rigoletto), Voice from Heaven (Don Carlos), Frasquita (Carmen), Norina (Don Pasquale), Marfa (The Tsar’s Bride), Ninetta (The Love for Three Oranges) and Brigitta (Iolanta). In 2024 she participated in the Primorsky Stage’s first Far Eastern Festival.
In the 2025/26 season, Iveta Simonyan became a member of the Anton Rubinstein Academy, an initiative founded by musicAeterna and Teodor Currentzis. She made her debut with the Academy as part of the programme Hændel. A Dedication Ceremony to George Frideric Handel, which was presented at the Dom Radio in St Petersburg, the Zaryadye Hall in Moscow, in Thessaloniki, at the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, the Palacio de Música in Valencia and the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona. In September 2025 she made her debut at the Novaya Opera Theatre in Moscow in one of the two lead roles in Pascal Dusapin’s Passion, with musicAeterna under Teodor Currentzis.
