Isabella Unterer

Isabella Unterer was born in Tyrol and received her first oboe lessons from Eckhard Fintl at the Tyrolean State Conservatory. She later studied at the University of Music and Theatre Munich with Günther Passin.

She was a member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and as part of the Munich Orchestra Academy performed with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Bavarian State Orchestra under conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Sergiu Celibidache, Carlos Kleiber, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti and Kent Nagano.

Since 1998 Isabella Unterer has been principal oboe of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg. She is also a member of œnm (the Austrian Ensemble for New Music) and appears with various ensembles as a sought-after chamber musician.

She also regularly appears as a guest artist with the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Bavarian State Opera, MünchenKlang and Camerata Salzburg.

Isabella Unterer has recently been studying psychokinesiology and logotherapy at the Institute for Logotherapy and Existential Analysis in Salzburg.
