The Russian tenor Ilia Skvirskii was born in Miass and is currently studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Rainer Trost. In 2022 he won first prize in the competition ‘The Voice of Kamen’ in Bulgaria and in 2024 he won first prize in the Hans Staud Music Prize.
In 2023 he made his debut at the Vienna Musikverein as the tenor in the quartet of soloists in Franz Schmidt’s Das Buch mit sieben Siegeln under the direction of Manfred Honeck. In summer 2024 he was a member of the opera studio of the Bregenz Festival, where he appeared as Gherardo in Gianni Schicchi in the Theater am Kornmarkt and as Roggiero in Rossini’s Tancredi under Yi-Chen Lin at the Festspielhaus. In 2025 he performed the role of Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) at the Vorarlberger Landestheater in Bregenz.
His repertory also includes roles such as Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Lensky (Eugene Onegin) and Camille de Rosillon (Die lustige Witwe).
