Biography

Florian Müller

Florian Müller studied piano and composition in Munich and Vienna, and is one of Austria’s leading interpreters of contemporary music.

Since 1993 he has been a member of Klangforum Wien, and has toured with this ensemble to the USA, Canada, Japan, Argentina and Israel. As a soloist, he is a regular guest at international festivals, and has appeared at Austria’s Wien Modern and Salzburg Festivals.

He has performed in concert with orchestras including the SWR Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the MDR Symphony Orchestra in Leipzig and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and has worked with renowned artists such as Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Sylvain Cambreling, Peter Eötvös, Fabio Luisi, Emilio Pomàrico and Hans Zender. He has also participated in theatre projects with Jérôme Bel, Alain Platel, Christoph Marthaler and Jevgenij Sitochin.

His recordings include Beat Furrer’s Nuun, Clemens Gadenstätter’s Comic Sense and Friedrich Cerha’s Relazioni fragili.

Florian Müller has given masterclasses at the Venice Biennale and at the isa – the International Summer Academy Prague-Vienna-Budapest. He teaches Performance Practice in Contemporary Music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.
