Davide Giangregorio
Bass

The Italian bass Davide Giangregorio graduated from the Nicola Sala State Conservatory of Music in Benevento, where he studied singing, piano, organ and chamber music. In 2012 he made his debut as Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Stresa Festival. The following year he won the singing competition of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto, where he made his debut as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte.
His recent engagements have included Osmin in Mozart’s Zaide under Daniele Gatti at the Opera di Roma and Mustafà in Adina at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro. He made his debut at the OperaLombardia as Masetto in Don Giovanni, a role that he went on to sing for Theater Basel, at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt. Appearances followed as Gaudenzio in Il signor Bruschino at La Fenice, as Colline in La bohème at the Teatro Regio in Turin and in the title role of Britten’s Noye’s Fludde at the Teatro Verdi Sassari. He also sang in La Cenerentola at the Olympia Municipal Music Theatre ‘Maria Callas’, Alfonso d’Este in Lucrezia Borgia at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and at the Aalto-Theater in Essen, Leporello in Don Giovanni in Sassari and Bologna, Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore in Rome, Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro in Bologna and Shanghai and Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv.
In Baroque repertory he made his debut at the Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona as Plutone in two Monteverdi operas: in L’Orfeo and in Il ballo delle ingrate. He has also sung Achilla in Handel’s Giulio Cesare at the Cairo Opera House.
At the opening of the 2024/25 season Davide Giangregorio performed the role of the Sacristan in Tosca under Daniel Harding at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. Other engagements this season include(d) Giulio Cesare at the Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna, at various theatres in the Emilia-Romagna region and at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, Così fan tutte and La bohème at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, La Cenerentola at the Teatro Regio in Turin and his debut in Salvatore Sciarrino’s Macbeth at the Salzburg Festival.
