The tenor Daniel Behle has a wide repertory that reaches from the Baroque to contemporary works. Engagements in the 2025/26 season will include Mendelssohn’s Elijah with the Staatskapelle Dresden under Daniele Gatti, Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde with the Orchestre National de France under Juraj Valčuha at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and Bruckner’s Te Deum with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra in Rotterdam and Vienna. He will also sing Walther von Stolzing (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) under Cornelius Meister at the Stuttgart State Opera. Other engagements will include appearances with the NDR Vocal Ensemble and the Munich Radio Orchestra and at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.

Recent highlights have included a song recital at the Vienna Musikverein, concerts with the Berlin Philharmonic under Kirill Petrenko, the SWR Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart under Pablo Heras-Casado, Le Cercle de l’Harmonie under Jérémie Rhorer and the Basel Symphony Orchestra under Delyana Lazarova, and Tito (La clemenza di Tito) at the 2024 Salzburg Festival.

He is a regular guest at opera houses such as the Vienna State Opera, La Scala, Milan, the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Semperoper Dresden and the Festivals of Salzburg and Bayreuth.

Daniel Behle has also made a name for himself as a composer. His first operetta Hopfen und Malz was shown at three theatres in 2023. He is currently working on his second operetta, Der Schmetterling.

On the concert platform he has appeared with orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra.

He has worked with conductors such as Marc Albrecht, Bertrand de Billy, Ivor Bolton, Semyon Bychkov, Marek Janowski, Philippe Jordan, Vladimir Jurowski, Fabio Luisi, Andrew Manze, Ingo Metzmacher, Kent Nagano, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Christian Thielemann, Lorenzo Viotti and Franz Welser-Möst.

Recitals have taken him to perform at venues and festivals such as the Wigmore Hall in London, the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and KKL Lucerne.

Daniel Behle has released several award-winning solo albums, including the Strauss album Un-Erhört with Oliver Schnyder, Heimat with German Hornsound and the Beethoven album Gegenliebe with Jan Schultsz.

In 2020 he was awarded the Opus Klassik as ‘Singer of the Year’ for his aria album MoZart. In 2024 he was awarded the German Record Critics’ Honorary Award.
