Carlotta Colombo
Soprano
The soprano Carlotta Colombo studied singing at the Conservatorio di Como and philosophy at the Università degli Studi in Milan. In 2022 she was a finalist in the Cesti International Singing Competition in Innsbruck. At the age of 23 she made her debut as La Musica / Euridice in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo; since then, she has appeared regularly with renowned early music ensembles.
Early career highlights included Fortuna / Drusilla (L’incoronazione di Poppea) under George Petrou at the Cologne Opera, La Musica / Euridice under Gianluca Capuano at the Salzburg Whitsun Festival and at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, Maddalena in Handel’s La resurrezione at the Teatro Comunale in Ferrara and Melissa in Handel’s Amadigi di Gaula at the Sofia Opera.
In 2023 she made her house debut at La Scala, Milan, in the concert Scintille barocche with the Cameristi della Scala under Giulio Prandi. She appeared alongside Joyce DiDonato and with il Pomo d’Oro under Maxim Emelyanychev in a concert featuring Carissimi’s Jephte and Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas at the Barbican Centre in London, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, the Teatro Real in Madrid and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.
She has sung Amanzio in Vivaldi’s Il Giustino under Ottavio Dantone at the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid and at the Sociedad Filarmónica in Bilbao, and has also performed at the Vienna Konzerthaus and the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin.
Carlotta Colombo sings the role of Livietta on the recording of Pergolesi’s Livietta e Tracollo with the Boston Early Music Festival Chamber Ensemble on the label CPO. Other CD recordings in which she has participated include a disc of Handel’s early cantatas (Brilliant Classics), Zelenka’s Missa Omnium Sanctorum (Glossa), Fux’s La corona d’Arianna (Arcana) and the Vivaldi album Musica sacra per coro e orchestra I with Giulio Prandi (Naïve Vivaldi Edition). In 2025 she released her first solo album, Arianna a Roma, with the Ensemble Anima & Corpo under Gabriele Pro (Arcana).
Recent engagements have included her debut in the title role of Handel’s Rodelinda at Theater Kiel, Cleonilla in Vivaldi’s Ottone in villa under Diego Fasolis at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Aristea in a new production of Pergolesi’s L’Olimpiade at the Teatro G. B. Pergolesi in Jesi and Ismene in Girolamo Abos’s Pelopida at the Valletta Baroque Festival.
She also appeared in a Scarlatti concert with Ottavio Dantone at the Innsbruck Early Music Festival and in a recital with Alessandro Quarto in Rome.
