Antonio Cuenca Ruiz

Antonio Cuenca Ruiz studied philosophy at Nanterre University, graduating in the performing arts from the École normale supérieure in Lyon. His academic research is focused in the main on the fields of phenomenology and anthropology. His essay on Adolphe Appia, ‘Le corps augmenté’, appeared recently in a collection of essays titled Le Rhythme, une révolution.

His most recent projects as a dramaturge include Ted Huffman’s and Zack Winokur’s production of Ana Sokolovi?’s Svadba at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s production of Rameau’s Les Indes galantes at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich.

Antonio Cuenca Ruiz is currently dramaturge at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, where recent and forthcoming projects include productions with Pascal Dusapin, Berlinde De Bruyckere and Romeo Castellucci.
