The tenor Andrew Lepri Meyer is equally active as an opera and concert singer. He comes from Wilmington, Delaware, and received his Master of Music degree from the University of Southern California. His first major engagement was the role of Dr Caius in Verdi’s Falstaff at the Tanglewood Music Center, conducted by Seiji Ozawa.
As a concert singer he initially specialized in the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. In the inaugural season of the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles he sang the Evangelist in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with the Los Angeles Master Chorale under Grant Gershon.
In opera he has performed in several works by Gaetano Donizetti, including the roles of Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore and Ernesto in Don Pasquale. He appeared as Sir Hervey in Anna Bolena in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein alongside Edita Gruberova, and as Normanno in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Philharmonie im Gasteig in Munich alongside Diana Damrau and Joseph Calleja. The latter performance was recorded by Erato.
Andrew Lepri Meyer is a long-standing ensemble member of the Bavarian Radio Chorus and has worked as a soloist with leading conductors such as Mariss Jansons, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Paavo Järvi, Gustavo Dudamel and Simon Rattle.
His versatility as a concert soloist is demonstrated in numerous CD recordings and radio broadcasts, including the live recording of Arvo Pärt’s Miserere from the 2021 Salzburg Festival.
