In recent seasons the Polish bass Aleksander Teliga’s appearances have included Duke of Verona (Roméo et Juliette) at the Theater an der Wien, Doctor (The Nose) and Count Rostov (War and Peace) at the Bavarian State Opera, Varlaam (Boris Godunov) at the Opéra Grand Avignon, Ivan Yakovlevich (The Nose) and Shostakovich’s satirical cantata Antiformalist Rayok at the Teatro Real in Madrid and Skołuba in Moniuszko’s The Haunted Manor and Grand Inquisitor (Don Carlo) in Wrocław.

Other past engagements at leading opera houses have included Skołuba, Dansker (Billy Budd), Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Zaccaria (Nabucco) and Daland (Der fliegende Holländer) at the Polish National Opera, Mayor (Jenůfa) at the Theater an der Wien, Commendatore (Don Giovanni) at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Dikoj (Káťa Kabanová) at the Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and the Opéra national de Nancy-Lorraine, Police Officer and Sergeant (Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District) and Surin (The Queen of Spades) at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Marquis of Calatrava (La forza del destino) at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Boris Ismailov, Priest and Old Convict (Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District) in Santiago de Chile, Boris Ismailov at the Finnish National Opera and the Royal Danish Opera and Priest and Old Convict (Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District) and Director (The Gambler) at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo.

Aleksander Teliga’s other appearances have included the Varangian Merchant (Sadko) in Venice, Thibault (The Maid of Orléans) at the Wexford Festival, Zaccaria at the St Margarethen Opera Festival, Scribe (May Night), Krušina (The Bartered Bride) and Boris Godunov in Bologna, the Grand Inquisitor in Dublin, Surin in Bologna, Dublin and Milan, the Fat Englishman (The Gambler) at the Berlin State Opera and La Scala, Milan, the General (The Gambler) and Geronte di Ravoir (Manon Lescaut) in Lyon, the Old Convict, Varlaam and Dikoj in Santiago de Chile, the Archbishop (Król Roger) in Barcelona, Vodník (Rusalka) in Mexico City, Prince Gremin in Kraków, Poznań and Buenos Aires, Tsar Dodon (The Golden Cockerel), Boris Ismailov and Daland at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Banco (Macbeth) in Leipzig and Montevideo, Ivan Yakovlevich in Rome, Sobakin and Malyuta-Skuratov (The Tsar’s Bride) at the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St Petersburg and the Grand Inquisitor, Daland and the Commendatore in Bonn.

As a concert singer his appearances have included Rachmaninoff’s The Bells with the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz and Szymanowski’s Stabat Mater at the Liceu in Barcelona.
