The Charitable Kühne Foundation was founded by the Kühne Family in Switzerland in 1976. The Kühne Foundation is an operative foundation whose first priority is to support education and further education as well as research in the fields of logistics and transport economics. Furthermore, it strongly supports cultural, medical and humanitarian projects. In the cultural area, the focus of its support is on music and literature. With the Young Singers Project, in 2008 the Salzburg Festival created a high-carat platform to support international rising young vocalists. The combination of artist encounters and practical experience means that here the Kühne Foundation is helping to sustain an encouragement programme which is an international benchmark.

The Swarovski Foundation was incorporated in 2013 to pursue charitable goals to honor the philanthropic spirit of Daniel Swarovski, who founded the crystal business in 1895. The Foundation's mission is to build on this heritage by supporting charitable initiatives and organizations working in three areas: Culture and creativity, promoting wellbeing and conserving natural resources. With the support of the Swarovski Foundation, the Salzburg Festival is able to offer more than 3,000 subsidized tickets and youth subscriptions for opera, drama and concert performances to young people under the age of 27. This will enable the promotion of access to culture and creativity and foster the education of young people in music, theatre and fine arts.
