Karin Bergmann appointed Interim Artistic Director of the Salzburg Festival

We are delighted to welcome Karin Bergmann as the interim artistic director of the Salzburg Festival. Drawing on her extensive experience, artistic insight, and clear sense of values, she will guide the Festival with care and responsibility. We look forward to collaborating with her and continuing to keep art at the very heart of everything we do.

“I take on this task with great respect for the responsibility it entails, and with the acknowledgment for the great artistic achievement of Markus Hinterhäuser. Now, to my own surprise, I will be responsible for the artistic directorship of the Salzburg Festival for the time being. I will execute this office in my own way, drawing on my own experience, but also with great respect for the artistic profile the Salzburg Festival has built during recent years. In doing so, prudence, reliability and a culture of dignity, respect and trust are particularly important to me. I kindly ask the artists and staff of the Festival for their trust and support. We now need to focus on our art again.”
