The young Chinese countertenor Zheng Jiang is currently a member of the international Royal College of Music Opera Studio.

Highlights of his 2025/26 season include his first appearance as a soloist with The Mozartists in the Mozart Birthday Concert at the Cadogan Hall and his role debut as Sesto in Handel’s Giulio Cesare in Egitto at The Grange Festival. In summer 2026 he makes his debut as Grimbald in Gordon Kampe’s children’s opera King Arthur Junior at the Salzburg Festival.

His operatic appearances have included the role of Cherubino in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro and Sandman in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel with Summer Opera Lyric Theatre in Toronto, and Piero della Francesca in Jonathan Dove’s Seven Angels at the Britten Theatre in London.

Zheng Jiang’s competition successes include first prize at the Adrian Clarke Vocal Awards at Grasmere Song 2025, third prize in the 2025 Lies Askonas Competition and the 2024 Nicholas Partridge Award for outstanding creativity at the Eastbourne International Singing Competition. He was also a finalist at the 2025 Kathleen Ferrier Awards at the Wigmore Hall and a participant in the Samling Artist Programme and the 2026 Leeds Song Young Artists Festival.

Zheng Jiang trained as a singer at York University in Toronto with Norma Burrowes and at the Royal College of Music with Ben Johnson.
