Since its founding in 2017 and its first performance as part of the opening ceremonies of the Carmen Würth Forum, the Würth Philharmonic Orchestra as orchestra in residence has impressed audiences in a wide repertory ranging from classical to contemporary works. Alongside its artistic activities the orchestra represents another milestone in the cultural commitment of the Würth Group. With its powerful sound and nuanced interpretations, the Würth Philharmonic Orchestra brings the highest quality music to its home of Hohenlohe, where it is unique in the region as a professional symphony orchestra. In an amazingly short time it has gained an excellent reputation. Every season the orchestra welcomes numerous renowned artists to the concert platform and to the stage in Künzelsau. Since 2020 its chief conductor is Claudio Vandelli.
The Würth Philharmonic Orchestra also exerts an international presence through its guest appearances worldwide in leading concert halls. It has performed at venues such as the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Vienna Musikverein, the Stuttgart Liederhalle, the Cadogan Hall in London, the Baden-Baden Festspielhaus, and for the International Mozarteum in Salzburg and the George Enescu Festival in Bucharest.
In the 2024/25 season the orchestra again gives major concerts at the Carmen Würth Forum and guest performances in Baden-Baden and Salzburg, working with internationally renowned soloists such as Yefim Bronfman, Piotr Beczala, Sondra Radvanovsky, Jan Vogler, Mari Kodama, Elīna Garanča and Martin Helmchen. It also reunites with Veronika Eberle, Thomas Hampson and Rudolf Buchbinder. Along with appearances with its chief conductor Claudio Vandelli and principal guest conductor Martin Panteleev, the orchestra works with guest conductors Christoph Koncz, Karel Mark Chichon, Gaetano d’Espinosa, Kent Nagano and Kristjan Järvi.
The Reinhold Würth Music Foundation owns several historically important instruments, in particular the violin ‘Ex Ries’ from 1693 by Antonio Stradivari, which has been played by Veronika Eberle since 2020, a violin from 1770 by Giovanni Battista Gabrielli, currently on loan to the violinist Ksenia Dubrovskaya, and a violin by Tommaso Balestrieri of Mantua, c.1783–85, on which Catalin Desaga, the leader of the Würth Philharmonic Orchestra, performs.
