Wolfram Fortin
Wolfram Fortin studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Siegfried Führlinger and at the University of Music Lübeck with Barbara Westphal. He also attended masterclasses with György Kurtág, Ferenc Rados, Johannes Meissl and members of the Alban Berg Quartet (among others), and won awards from Musica Juventutis and the foundation Live Music Now. He chiefly works as a chamber musician specializing in historically informed performance practice, but has also made a name for himself as an interpreter of contemporary music.
As a section leader and soloist with the Wiener Akademie Orchestra, and in various chamber groups, he has performed at venues including the Vienna Musikverein, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, the LOTTE Concert Hall in Seoul, the Teatro Colón, Buenos Aires, and at festivals such as the Salzburg Festival, the Wiener Festwochen, the Ruhrtriennale, OCM Prussia Cove, the Al Bustan Festival, the Festival Internacional Cervantino in Mexico and the Styriarte. Wolfram Fortin is the violist of the Kainberg Quartet: other chamber music partners include Gottlieb Wallisch and the Haydn Quartet. H
e teaches at the Centre for Music Education (Zentrum für Musikvermittlung) in Vienna and was appointed a lecturer at AMP Vienna in 2020.
