Czech baritone Tomáš Král studied singing at the Janáček Academy of Music and the Performing Arts in Brno with Adriana Hlavsová, as well as taking part in masterclasses with Julie Hassler, Howard Crook and Peter Schreier and courses with Ivan Kusnjer.
Since 2005 he has collaborated regularly with Collegium 1704, Collegium Marianum, Musica Florea, Capella Regia Praha, Ensemble Inégal and Ensemble Tourbillon. He is a founding member of Collegium Vocale 1704, with whom he has participated in the Bach–Prague–2005 project and appeared regularly at renowned festivals such as the Prague Spring Festival, the Dresden Music Festival, the Festival de La Chaise-Dieu, the Festival de Sablé, the Festival d’Ambronay, the Alter Regensburg Festival, the Utrecht Early Music Festival and the MA Festival Brugge. He also enjoys close collaborations with ensembles such as Collegium Vocale Gent, Doulce Mémoire and RedHerring.
Tomáš Král is a dedicated opera singer. His operatic appearances include Uberto (Pergolesi’s La serva padrona) with Collegium Marianum in the Czech Republic, France and Finland, Silango (Gluck’s Le cinesi) with Collegium 1704, the title role in Franz von Suppé’s Boccaccio at the Moravian Theatre in Olomouc and Guglielmo (Così fan tutte).
Tomáš Král has been involved in several CD recordings, including of various works by Jan Disma Zelenka, which have received particular acclaim.
