Tobias Walenciak

As a choral conductor, Tobias Walenciak works in Berlin with Bancanta, the Schöneberg-based children’s choir Vokalhelden of the Berlin Philharmonic and as an assistant to Simon Halsey for operatic and choral projects at the Philharmonie. He teaches choral conducting at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music and at the University of the Arts, where he also directs the University Choir.
For ten years he was artistic director of the Junges Ensemble Chamber Choir in Dresden, with whom he toured to Belarus, Lithuania and Latvia. Tobias Walenciak has also worked at the Berlin State Opera, the Schloss Rheinsberg Chamber Opera and the Konzerthaus in Berlin, as well as collaborating with conductors such as Simon Rattle, Iván Fischer, Jonathan Nott, Hans Graf and Howard Griffiths. While he was a student, Tobias Walenciak also worked with the Berlin Radio Choir, the Vocalconsort Berlin, the Vokalakademie Berlin, the Berlin Philharmonic Chorus, Cantus Domus, consortium vocale berlin and hortus vocalis.
Tobias Walenciak has worked on world premiere performances with composers such as David Lang, Jonathan Dove, Frank Schwemmer and Justin Lépany.
He is also a member of the music committee of the Berlin Chorverband and holds a scholarship from the Tenso Masterclass for Conductors.
