Biography

Thomas Achitz

Thomas Achitz was born in Austria, studied film directing in Munich, and gained experience working on film and television productions for ZDF and ORF (including the series Schlawiner by Paul Harather) before going on to further studies at the University of Art and Design in Linz. During his studies he began working in the visual media department of the Salzburg Festival, where he remains a member of the video team.

Since 2019 Thomas Achitz has worked closely with rocafilm as a live cameraman, editor and video designer, and has participated in this capacity in productions by directors including Robert Carsen, Damiano Michieletto, Claus Guth, Rolando Villazón and others, at the Salzburg Festival, the Vienna State Opera, the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and the Teatro Massimo in Palermo.

Further projects have taken him to the Schauspielhaus Graz and the Landestheater in Linz. He also works as a cameraman and editor on music video productions for groups including Salò, Berglind and Mynth. Recently he worked with the director Philipp M. Krenn as the video designer on the German-language premiere of Peter Eötvös’s Sleepless at the Graz Opera.
