The Italian conductor and choral director Stefano Visconti was appointed chorus master of the Chorus of the Opéra de Monte-Carlo in 2007. Since 2008 he has also directed the chorus of the opera festival Soirées Lyriques de Sanxay and in addition since 2017 he has been responsible for the chorus of the Chorégies d’Orange.

From 1991 to 2001 Stefano Visconti was chorus master at the Teatro Goldoni in Livorno, from 2001 to 2007 he directed the Chorus of the Opéra Grand Avignon, and from 1999 to 2015 he was chorus master of the Festival Puccini in Torre del Lago. From 1984 to 2001 he also conducted the Coro Polifonico Guido Monaco in Livorno, which under his direction won several prizes in national competitions in Vittorio Veneto, Arezzo and Florence. In 2000 Stefano Visconti founded a Tuscan chamber choir made up of professional singers. He has conducted the reconstruction of the complete sacred works by Giuseppe Cambini for soloists, choir and orchestra.

His recordings for the labels Fonè Records, Agora Records and Kikko Classic include Pietro Mascagni’s operas L’amico Fritz, I Rantzau, Lodoletta, Guglielmo Ratcliff, Silvano, Cavalleria rusticana, Iris and .

Stefano Visconti was born in Livorno in 1960. He initially studied piano, going on to study choral conducting with Fosco Corti and Roberto Gabbiano and orchestral conducting with Piero Bellugi and Giancarlo Andretta.
