Silke Bake lives in Berlin and works as a curator, dramaturge and mentor. She has worked as a dramaturge for various institutions (including Theater am Turm, Frankfurt, Hebbel-Theater, Berlin, Tanzquartier Wien) and realized programmes (festivals, series, laboratory and discourse formats) for the Haus der Kulturen der Welt and the Akademie der Künste in Berlin, for the Kanuti Gildi Saal in Tallinn, the Festival Theaterformen in Braunschweig and Hanover, for Impulstanz Wien and for Tanzfabrik Berlin.
Silke Bake was dramaturge and project manager of the performing arts festival IN TRANSIT at Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin in 2008 and 2009; she co-curated the biennial NU-Performance Festival On Hospitality as part of the European Capital of Culture program Tallinn 2011 as well as performance platform. body affects at Sophiensælen Berlin in 2012. In 2016 and 2018 she took over the artistic direction of the biennial program of the festival Tanznacht Berlin. In 2018 she was a guest professor of the master’s program Solo/Dance/Authorship (SODA) at the HZT (Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz) Berlin.
Silke Bake is currently General and Artistic Manager of the FEMINIST FUTURES program of the European network apap – advancing performing arts project.
