Raimund Orfeo Voigt

Raimund Orfeo Voigt was born in Frankfurt am Main and studied scenography in Erich Wonder’s class at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, graduating with distinction. For several years he assisted Erich Wonder and Robert Wilson.
In 2012 he was a lecturer at Vienna’s Academy of Fine Arts.
In 2010, Raimund Orfeo Voigt was nominated for the Nestroy Theatre Prize in the category ‘Best Young Talent’ for his set designs for Anna Badora’s production of Wajdi Mouawad’s Incendies. In 2019 he received the Nestroy Prize in the category ‘Best Set Design’ for Schnitzler’s Der einsame Weg at the Theater in der Josefstadt and for Gorky’s Summerfolk at the Salzburg Festival. He was nominated as Designer of the Year at the 2020 International Opera Awards.
His recent opera work has included Andrea Breth’s productions of Salome at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and The Turn of the Screw at La Monnaie, Brussels; Falstaff with Mateja Koležnik at the Bavarian State Opera; Christof Loy’s productions of Leoncavallo’s Zazà at the Theater an der Wien, Eugene Onegin at the Norwegian Opera in Oslo, Der ferne Klang at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm and Capriccio at the Teatro Real in Madrid; Lohengrin with Árpád Schilling at the Stuttgart State Opera; Samson et Dalila with Alexandra Liedtke at the Vienna State Opera; Eine florentinische Tragödie / Gianni Schicchi with Jan Philipp Gloger at the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam; Matthias Hartmann’s productions of Der Freischütz at La Scala, Milan, and La bohème and Fidelio at the Grand Théâtre de Genève; and Parsifal with Marco Štorman at the Theater Bremen.
Other theatres and opera houses at which Raimund Orfeo Voigt has worked include the Berliner Ensemble, the Theater Basel, the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus, the Frankfurt Opera, the Schauspiel Leipzig, the Karlsruhe State Theatre, the Residenztheater in Munich, the Burgtheater in Vienna and the Schauspielhaus Graz.
