The violinist Petra Müllejans is a versatile musician who is enthusiastic about almost every kind of music and plays it with passion. Her preferred musical environment is one in which she performs alongside trusted and familiar musical partners. For many years she has been a member and associate of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, which she leads as concert master, and with which she also regularly appears as a soloist. She also regularly performs with the Freiburg Baroque Consort, the chamber music formation of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, which specializes in solo and chamber music from the 17th and early 18th centuries.
Petra Müllejans’s approach to Baroque and Classical music is characterized by a constant search for a narrative style of music-making, which for her is ideally realized in her work with the orchestra, in her collaborations with the gambist Hille Perl and the lutenist Lee Santana in the ensemble The Age of Passions and in her klezmer ensemble Hot & Cool.
A passionate teacher, Petra Müllejans is dedicated to working with her students. She is a professor of Baroque violin at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main.
