Biography

Patrycia Ziolkowska

Current as of August 2023

Patrycia Ziolkowska was accepted at the Westphalian Drama Academy in Bochum, today the Folkwang University of the Arts, at the age of 17. While still a student, she debuted at the Schauspielhaus Bochum in productions by Leander Haußmann and Uwe Dag Berlin. Ever since these beginnings, the actress has commanded a unique energy and seductive power, without fear of deep feelings. With these capabilities, she manages, effortlessly, to build a bridge between classical theater, contemporary cinema, and performance. This has made her an extraordinary actress on stage and in film. Directors who have profoundly shaped and influenced contemporary theater and film such as Andreas Kleinert, Dimiter Gotscheff, Fatih Akin, Karin Beier, Lars Becker, Luk Perceval, Maris Pfeiffer, Martin Enlen, Mathias Glasner and Nicolas Stemann make use of the actress’s energetic, uncompromising, and dedicated performances for their ambitious productions.

Patrycia Ziolkowska’s physical and intelligent way of acting testifies to an above average intuition for the essence of the characters. They are multifaceted transcenders of human motives and alternate playfully between a human radiance and the fractures of life. Patrycia Ziolkowska manages, with the simplest means, to create rapid transitions between the clarity and the contradiction of existence. She is a captivating presence on all of the important German language stages including the Burgtheater in Vienna, the Schaubühne Berlin, the Schauspiel Frankfurt, the Schauspielhaus Hamburg, the Schauspielhaus Zurich, and the Thalia Theater Hamburg, as well as in many ambitious film and television productions such as ‘Auf der anderen Seite’ (The Edge of Heaven), ‘Die Luft, die wir atmen’ (The Air that We Breathe), ‘Solino’, ‘Spanische Grippe’ (Spanich Flu), ‘Spätwerk’ (Late Work) and ‘The Cut’. Patrycia Ziolkowska works as an actress throughout Europe and lives in Frankfurt am Main.
