Oskar Jacek Sadowski

Interdisciplinary director, in his projects he combines theater, film, opera, VR, alternative music and activism. His works go beyond the classical boundaries of stages. He directed the play “Drugs” at Plac Defilad in Warsaw, and the famous “Dziady na Mickiewicza” – a revolutionary spectacle in the windows of a glass house in Warsaw’s Żoliborz district. For this performance, he received the main prize in the O!lśnienia of the Year 2021 by Onet and the City of Krakow.
He collaborated with leading Theatres in Poland: Studio Theater in Warsaw, TR Warszawa, Polish Theater in Wrocław, Nowy Theater in Poznań, NOSPR in Katowice and Polish Theater in the Underground. He created an experimental film, that was a combination of theater and video art – “Balladyna” based on the text by Juliusz Słowacki. “Balladyna” was shown at a festival organized by The Theater Times in New York, and was recognized by Harvard University as an example of the art of the future in the Future Stage manifesto. He made a music video promoting the soundtrack to “Balladyna” – “Echa Grobowych Rozwalin”, the soundtrack was nominated for Fryderyk 2021 in the Album of the Year Electronics category.
His latest projects „L’amour et la mort” shown at Palace Radziwiłów and “Canti Lussuriosi e Seriosi” (successfully shown on stages in Berlin and Cologne) – both experimental opera performances exploring boundaries of corporality.
Sadowski is also a long-time collaborator of Krystian Lupa (“Holzfallen” at Schauspielhaus Graz, “Wycinka” at the Polish Theater in Wrocław, „Balconies. `The Love Songs” at the Teatr Polski w Podziemiu, or „Spirala”).
Currently working on his new movie – „Hunger”, produced by Munk’s Studio.
