Nadezhda Pavlova

The lyric soprano Nadezhda Pavlova is one of the most exciting singers of her generation. She received Russia’s most prestigious theatre award, the Golden Mask, in 2017 for her performances as Violetta in Robert Wilson’s production of La traviata under the musical direction of Teodor Currentzis at the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre, where she has been a member of the ensemble since 2012/13.

Nadezhda Pavlova’s repertory includes the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor, Mozart’s Donna Anna, Countess Almaviva, Fiordiligi and Konstanze, Marfa (The Tsar’s Bride), Micaëla (Carmen), Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos), Musetta (La bohème), Gilda (Rigoletto), Olympia (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Luisa in Prokofiev’s Betrothal in a Monastery, Adele (Die Fledermaus), Sœur Constance (Dialogues des Carmélites), Cunegonde (Candide) and Marta in Weinberg’s The Passenger.

Nadezhda Pavlova is also active as a concert artist and as a song recitalist with a particularly wide-ranging repertory. Engagements have taken her to many of Europe’s leading opera houses and concert halls, including Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre, the Elbphilharmonie and the Hamburg State Opera, the Cologne Philharmonie, the Konzerthaus Dortmund and the Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg.

In 2021 she made her highly acclaimed Salzburg Festival debut as Donna Anna in Romeo Castellucci’s production of Don Giovanni. In the 2022/23 season Nadezhda Pavlova made her debuts as Violetta at the Zurich Opera House and as Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) at the Bavarian State Opera.

Since the 2018/19 season Nadezhda Pavlova is a guest soloist at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. She made her acclaimed debuts at the Lucerne Festival and the Vienna Konzerthaus as Donna Anna and Fiordiligi in concert performances with musicAeterna under Teodor Currentzis, in both cases in 2019. The following year she received critical acclaim for her performances as Volkhova in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Sadko at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow and received the Russian Casta Diva Award.

In addition to these awards, Nadezhda Pavlova has also received the Grand Prix of the Minsk Christmas Singing Competition in 2015 and the Moscow Music Critics’ Association Prize for her appearances as Violetta in 2016.
