The name Motus, derived from Latin (signifying movement, shaking, but also bodily movement, gesture, dance and departure, as well as mental activity), summarizes in its diversity both the musical philosophy and the composition of Motus Percussion: an innovative percussion ensemble that performs the classics of literature as well as new creations. Accordingly, Motus Percussion works with a flexible number of performers that knows (almost) no limits, but that also encompasses a spectrum in its dynamics and instrumentation that ranges from the limits of the audible to massive eruptions of sound, and from the smallest instruments to set-ups that fill the stage. All members are united by their common approach, as they are all connected to the percussion class of the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz as teachers, students or alumni.
