Baritone

The Georgian baritone Misha Kiria has enjoyed great international acclaim in roles such as Bartolo (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Don Magnifico (La Cenerentola) and Verdi’s Falstaff. He has performed at renowned opera houses such as the Teatro Real in Madrid, La Scala, Milan, the Dutch National Opera, the Bavarian State Opera and the Vienna State Opera.

Alongside Barone di Trombonok (Il viaggio a Reims) at the Salzburg Festival, his 2025/26 engagements include Falstaff at the Teatro Regio in Parma, Sulpice (La Fille du régiment) and Don Magnifico in Munich, Bartolo, Taddeo (L’italiana in Algeri) and the title role of Gianni Schicchi at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Germont (La traviata) at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome.

In the 2024/25 season Misha Kiria’s appearances included Don Magnifico and Sulpice in Munich, Gianni Schicchi at the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen and the Paris Opéra and Taddeo in Rome and at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro.

Other recent highlights have included his Salzburg Festival debut as Gianni Schicchi in Christof Loy’s 2022 production of Puccini’s Il trittico and Fra Melitone (La forza del destino), Lord Sidney (Il viaggio a Reims) and Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte) at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Misha Kiria appears regularly as a guest artist at the Bavarian State Opera, where in addition to aforementioned roles he has sung Gaudenzio (Il signor Bruschino), Don Geronio (Il turco in Italia) and Bartolo. He made his debuts at the Vienna State Opera as Dulcamara (L’elisir d’amore) and at the Teatro Real as Falstaff under Daniele Rustioni in a production by Laurent Pelly. In 2019 he sang Dulcamara for Glyndebourne Festival.

Past engagements have also included his debut at the Verdi Festival in Parma as Falstaff in 2017, Lord Sidney, Alfio (Cavalleria rusticana) and Tonio (Pagliacci) at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia, Blansac (La scala di seta) at La Scala, Milan, Cavalier Belfiore in Verdi’s Un giorno di regno at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, Don Magnifico at the Frankfurt Opera and in La Palmas, Zarete in Donizetti’s Il Paria at the Barbican Hall in London, Fra Melitone at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Don Geronio in Madrid.

Misha Kiria is a graduate of the Tbilisi State Conservatoire and the Accademia of La Scala, Milan.
