Mathieu Pordoy

French collaborative pianist Mathieu Pordoy is one of the most promising coaches of his generation.

He has worked at various leading opera houses in a broad range of repertoire, including Don Carlos at the Vienna State Opera, Les Huguenots and L’Enfant et les sortilèges at the Paris Opéra and Les Contes d’Hoffmann at the Zurich Opera. Mathieu Pordoy also has given masterclasses at the Mariinsky Academy of Young Opera Singers and been a member of the staff at the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute in Montreal and the International Vocal Arts Institute in Israel.

He made his double debut at Carnegie Hall in 2019 in Berlioz’s Lélio with John Eliot Gardiner, as well as in recital with Sabine Devieilhe, with whom he has also appeared at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and Festival Pulsations in Bordeaux in a programme of Strauss and Mozart that was recently broadcast on Arte Television and France Musique. Other musical partners include US tenor Michael Spyres, with whom he has given recitals throughout Europe and Canada, and Latvian soprano Marina Rebeka, appearing together in France and Russia, as well as on a live broadcast for Rossiya K and a 2021 album for Prima Records in association with the Palazzetto Bru Zane in Venice.

A specialist in French opera, Mathieu Pordoy is regularly invited to work at opera houses such as the Opéra Comique in Paris, the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, the Grand-Théâtre de Luxembourg and La Monnaie in Brussels. Since 2008, he has collaborated on productions every summer in Aix and has served as coach for the Académie at the Festival. He has also worked as a vocal coach and accompanist and served on the music staff at opera houses such as the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Auditorio de Tenerife, Les Chorégies d’Orange, the Cologne Opera and the Teatro Municipal de Santiago, as well as working with conductors including Fabio Luisi, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Gianandrea Noseda, Daniele Gatti, François-Xavier Roth, Mikko Franck and Raphaël Pichon.

Mathieu Pordoy graduated with honours from the Paris Conservatoire, where he taught from 2006 to 2011.
