Martin Hauk

Martin Hauk was born in Berlin in 1961. He studied theater and event technology and worked as technical director for ArtLab Studios Berlin, where he realized events for Shell Oil, Skoda, IBM and others. Since 1993 his work has concentrated on lighting design. He has created lighting concepts for Cora Frost, Gayle Tufts, Tim Fischer and for dance productions by Alex B. and Tanzfabrik Berlin.

Since 1996, Martin Hauk has worked as a lighting designer with Sasha Waltz for Zweiland, Körper, S, noBody, insideout, Impromptus, Gezeiten, Jagden und Formen (State 2008), Continu and Matsukaze (2011), among others. For Métamorphoses (2010), he was responsible for the stage design as well as the lighting. In 2012, he also designed the lighting for the dance project MusikTANZCarmen as part of the Berliner Philharmoniker’s education program. In 2013, he created the lighting for the project Dialoge 2013 – Kolkata in India, and in 2014 the lighting design for the choreographic opera Orfeo by Sasha Waltz to music by Claudio Monteverdi.
