Marlene Metzger

The German soprano Marlene Metzger sang for ten years in the children’s chorus of the Komische Oper Berlin, before completing her singing studies at the University of the Arts in Berlin and the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. She was a finalist in the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang Berlin in 2020 and in the singing competition NEUE STIMMEN in 2024.

From 2023 to 2025 she was a member of the Opera Academy of the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen, where she sang roles such as Servilia (La clemenza di Tito), First Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Naiad (Ariadne auf Naxos), Suor Dolcina (Suor Angelica), Tebaldo (Don Carlo) and Ottone in Vivaldi’s Griselda. She also appeared as Servilia at the Hamburg State Opera under Adam Fischer and at the Tyrol State Theatre in Innsbruck.

Her guest engagements have taken her to the Lucerne Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival, the Bremen Music Festival and to Theater Lübeck. In 2022 she created the principal role in the world premiere of Frank Schwemmer’s opera Der Atlantis-Code at the Philharmonie Luxembourg.

In summer 2025 she participated in the Young Singers Project of the Salzburg Festival, singing the role of D’Artagnan in the world premiere of Sebastian Schwab’s children’s opera Musketiere! She also sang in several concerts, and participated in masterclasses with Julian Prégardien, Stéphanie d’Oustrac, Christof Loy and Malcolm Martineau.

In the 2025/26 season she gave a song recital for the Danish Song Society, sang arias by Barbara Strozzi with the Copenhagen Phil in the concert hall of the Conservatory in Frederiksberg and performed the soprano solo in Mozart’s Requiem under Manfred Honeck at the Erlöserkirche in Lustenau. She also participated in the NEUE STIMMEN masterclass with Elīna Garanča.

Recent appearances have included Hannchen (Der Vetter aus Dingsda) at Theater Osnabrück and Pamina in the Mozart adaptation Die kleine Zauberflöte at the Salzburg Landestheater.
