Marcel Durka

The baritone Marcel Durka is studying at the University of Music, Drama and Media in Hanover in the singing class of Marina Sandel. He is a prize-winner of numerous competitions, among them the International Antonín Dvořák Competition (2022), the Carl Schroeder Competition (2022) and the competition Beethoven Bonnensis (2020). In 2024 he was a finalist in the International Otto Edelmann Singing Competition in Vienna. He also holds a scholarship from the Cusanuswerk.

In student productions he has performed roles such as Nardo (La finta giardiniera), Frank (Die Fledermaus) and most recently the Innkeeper in Humperdinck’s Königskinder. In 2024 he sang with the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock under Marcus Bosch at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival.

Marcel Durka began his musical career in the Hanover Boys’ Choir, and made his first stage appearances as First Boy (Die Zauberflöte) and Willie Maurrant in Weill’s Street Scene. In school productions he appeared as Papageno (Die Zauberflöte) and as the title role in the musical Jekyll&Hyde.
