Biography

Lucia Flaig

Lucia Flaig works as a stage and costume designer, with her artistic activities ranging from theater sets, installations and scenography to video art.
As a bespoke tailor and after training as a fashion designer, she worked in the costume departments of various theaters, including the Gärtnerplatztheater, as well as recurrently at the Theaterakademie August Everding in Munich’s Prinzregententheater. Her work became more spatial and so she studied stage and costume design at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. During her studies, she worked as an assistant in opera, musicals and drama. She completed a guest semester at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague with a focus on installation and object art.
Her works have been shown at the Theater im Kunstquartier, the ARGE Kultur and the Baroque Museum in Salzburg, the Burgtheater in Vienna, the Stiftsruine Bad Hersfeld, Kampnagel in Hamburg and The Hague. She has also realized productions for festivals such as the Asphalt Festival Düsseldorf, the Körber Studio Junge Regie at Hamburg’s Thalia Theater, the Best Austrian Animation and the Schauspielschultreffen in Vienna, the Juvinale in Salzburg and the Wanderkino Bewegliche Bilder.
Lucia Flaig’s focus is on telling stories and questioning norms. She likes to play with concrete fantasy and experiment with material, medium and context.
