The Austrian-Italian set and costume designer Lisa Behensky studied set and costume design, film and exhibition architecture at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.

Her recent work includes set designs for the world premiere of Silvia Colasanti’s Anna A. at La Scala, Milan, and Träume – eine Nacht im Elfenwald for the children’s opera house at the Berlin State Opera, both directed by Giulia Giammona. In 2024 the interdisciplinary production of Leonora Carrington’s Penelope, for which Lisa Behensky created sets and costumes, was awarded the Jury Prize of the Körber Studio Junge Regie in Hamburg.

At the Stuttgart State Opera, she created sets and costumes for the world premiere of Alessandro Baticci’s Icaro, in a production directed by Alexander Fahima.

She works regularly at major theatres as Romeo Castellucci’s scenic collaborator, including at the Berlin State Opera, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam, La Scala, Milan, and the Salzburg Festival.
