French tenor Léo Vermot-Desroches graduated from his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris with distinction. In 2024 he was nominated as opera singer discovery at the Victoires de la Musique Classique. In 2023 he won 2nd prize in the Voix Nouvelles competition at Paris’s Opéra Comique. In 2020 he won 1st prize in both the opera and song categories at the Marmande International Singing Competition. He is also a prize-winner of the competitions of Froville, Canari and Arles. Playing on contrasting vocals Léo Vermot-Desroches performs on stage parts like Tamino in Mozart’s Zauberflöte, Chevalier Des Grieux in Manon, Rodolfo in Puccini’s La Bohème, Chevalier de la Force in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites, Peter Quint in Britten’s Turn of Screw or Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Following performances of Scaramuccio/Ariane à Naxos (Limoges 0pera), First Jew (Salome) at the 2022 Aix-en-Provence Festival, he performed these past years : Truffaldino in Prokofiev’s Love of the 3 Oranges & Arbace/Idomeneo (Opéra national de Lorraine in Nancy), Bastien/Bastien et Bastienne (Avignon Opera), Leopold in Benatzky’s Im weissen Rössl & Camille de Coutançon/Die lustige Witwe (Marseille Opera), Des Grieux in an adaptation of Massenet’s Manon at the opera houses in Saint-Étienne, Vichy and Massy (with the Company Op’là), Pepe in Donizetti’s Rita ou Le Mari battu & Alfredo/La traviata (Tours Opera), Silence sur la ville (Compiègne Opera), Rameau’s Manto/Les Paladins (Versailles Royal Opera), Jaquino/Fidelio (Dijon Opera), Poisson/Adriana Lecouvreur & Harry/La fanciulla del West (Lyon national Opera), Lychas, Phérès, Alecton and Apollon in Lully’s Alceste with Les Épopées (Versailles Royal Opera, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, Theater an der Wien, Cracow and recording). He also enjoyed great successes as Malcolm/Macbeth, Manoël in Gounod’s Le Tribut de Zamora & Nicias in Massenet’s Thaïs (Saint-Étienne Opera), as Julien in an adaptation of Charpentier’s Louise under the title Au loin, ma ville & Juliano in Auber’s Le Domino noir (Paris Opéra Comique), or performing his first Hoffmann/Hoffmann’s Tales at 2024 Salzburger Festspiele replacing twice Benjamin Bernheim with brilliance, Flavio in Bellini’s Norma (Toulouse Capitole National Opera),.
He has also given several recitals, including at the Compiègne Imperial Theater, Paris Eiffel Tower, Sainte-Chapelle or Invalides and appeared as a soloist in a opera gala (with the Occitanie Montpellier National Orchestra), for the 20th anniversary of Opera Fuoco or in works such as Rossini’s Petite Messe solennelle (Bordeaux National Opera), Beethoven’s 9th Symphony (Dijon Opera, in Stuttgart and Munich with the Munich Symphoniker), Dvorak’s Stabat Mater (Limoges opera), at the Chorégies d’Orange Festival, concert with Les Epopées (Paris Invalides for Radio Classique), a Gala concert (Versailles Royal Opera), concert with the Munich Philharmoniker under Alain Altinoglu 2025-26’s season he performs Les Contes d’Hoffmann (cover) & Edgar/Lucie de Lammermoor (Opéra Comique), he takes part to La Nuit de la Voix at the Paris Palais Garnier, sings Eve by Massenet (Wenceslav Festival), performs Tamino/Die Zauberflöte (Saint Etienne), Le Chevalier de La Force/Dialogues des Carmélites (Lausanne, Marseille), Tybalt in Roméo et Juliette (Paris Théâtre des Champs Elysées) etc.
This coming summer he’ll return to the Salzburg Festival for Frère Massé / Saint François d’Assises. Later on he’ll be at The Geneva Grand Théâtre for La Tempête followed by Manon Lescaut and La Rondine at the Paris Théâtre des Champs Elysées. Debut Roméo / Roméo & Juliette in Tours and his debut at the Paris Opera with a world creation “Le Miroir de nos Peines” etc.
