The French tenor Léo Vermot-Desroches completed his singing training at the Paris Conservatoire.

In 2024 he was nominated as ’Best Vocal Discovery’ in the Victoires de la Musique Classique. In 2023 he won second prize in the singing competition Voix Nouvelles and in 2020 he won first prize in both the opera and the song categories at the Concours International de Chant de Marmande. He has also won prizes in the singing competitions of Froville, Canari and Arles.

Recent engagements have included Scaramuccio (Ariadne auf Naxos) at the Opéra de Limoges; First Jew (Salome) at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence; Truffaldino (The Love for Three Oranges) and Arbace (Idomeneo) at the Opéra national de Nancy-Lorraine; Bastien (Bastien und Bastienne) at the Opéra Grand Avignon; Leopold (Im weißen Rößl) and Camille de Rosillon (Die lustige Witwe) at the Opéra de Marseille; Des Grieux in an adaptation of Massenet’s Manon by the Compagnie Op’là in Saint-Étienne, Vichy and Massy; Pepe in Donizetti’s Rita and Alfredo (La traviata) at the Opéra de Tours; Manto in Rameau’s Les Paladins at the Opéra Royal de Versailles; Jaquino (Fidelio) at the Opéra de Dijon; Poisson (Adriana Lecouvreur) and Harry (La fanciulla del West) at the Opéra national de Lyon; and several parts in concert performances of Lully’s Alceste with the Ensemble Les Épopées at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, in Versailles, at the Theater an der Wien and in Kraków.

He stood in for Benjamin Bernheim in a performance of Les Contes d’Hoffmann at the Salzburg Festival in 2024.

He has appeared at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne as Malcolm (Macbeth), Manoël in Gounod’s Le Tribut de Zamora, Nicias in Massenet’s Thaïs and Tamino (Die Zauberflöte). He has also sung Julien in an adaptation of Charpentier’s Louise, Juliano in Auber’s Le Domino noir and Edgard (Lucie de Lammermoor) at the Opéra Comique in Paris; Flavio (Norma) at the Opéra national du Capitole de Toulouse; Tybalt (Roméo et Juliette) at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées; and Chevalier de la Force (Dialogues des Carmélites) in Lausanne and Marseille.

His engagements in the 2026/27 season will include Antonio in Frank Martin’s Der Sturm (The Tempest) at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Prunier (La rondine) and several roles in Manon Lescaut at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the title role of Werther and Désiré in the world premiere of Hèctor Parra’s Miroir de nos peines at the Paris Opéra, Roméo (Roméo et Juliette) in Tours and concerts in Bucharest, Munich and at the Teatro Real in Madrid.
